Orbitum
From an EdTech hackathon idea to explainable competency and opportunity intelligence.
Yerkezhan and I began with an EdTech idea for a Halyk Bank hackathon. We did not win. We continued, formed a new team, and developed the concept into Orbitum during summer 2026.
01 / THE QUESTION
How can evidence of a student’s skills inform learning and research opportunities beyond a single GPA?
Team: Yerkezhan — frontend and selected backend components; Aidana — educational content; Nurzhan — project publication. The technical specification uses the name Talent Bridge AI.

02 / THE WORK
My contribution
Co-initiated the project and led the AI systems from the beginning.
Developed the AI-system architecture around competency profiling, opportunity matching, skill gaps, and adaptive learning pathways.
Designed for evidence-backed recommendations, confidence information, auditability, and human oversight.
Methods & focus
- Competency profiling
- Multi-stage RAG matching
- Explainable recommendations
- Adaptive learning pathways
03 / EVIDENCE & LIMITS
What the work supports
The project’s architecture connects student evidence to competency profiles, opportunity matching, and recommended next steps.
